Timothy Tew
Timothy Tew, age 51, is a Georgia native though he was born in Texas. He received his B.A. in piano from Shorter College in 1981 and graduated from the Art Institute of Atlanta in 1982 with a certificate in interior decoration and design. After several years working in the home furnishings industry he moved to Paris in 1986. There he studied art history and drawing at the American Center and language at the Alliance Française and the Sorbonne. As he became fluent in French, Tew developed relationships with several contemporary artists working in Paris. He returned to Atlanta in 1987 and began to establish his art business.
In 2005, TEW Galleries, now a prominent southeastern gallery representing a spectrum of international contemporary artists moved into The Galleries of Peachtree Hills, an arts and antiques development in the Buckhead neighborhood of Atlanta.
In 2009, Timothy launched a jewelry business as a component of TEW Galleries which features estate and antique jewelry. In addition, the gallery began representing contemporary jewelry artists and designers in 2010. To enrich his knowledge of gemstones and jewelry he enrolled at the Gemological Association of Great Britain and has been studying gemology since 2009. He will graduate in 2011 from the diploma program.
Timothy is a trustee on the board of the Atlanta Ballet. In addition he has served on the board of the Atlanta Contemporary Art Center and in 2003 was named president of the Atlanta Gallery Association. He spearheaded ATLart[04] and ATLart[05] a citywide visual program event.

2006 received the Service to Youth Award from CHRIS Kids, an Atlanta Charity known for its work healing children, strengthening families and building community.
August 2006, Catalyst Magazine named Timothy Tew one of top ten Atlanta entrepreneurs to watch in the sales revenue category of 1 to 5 million dollars.
