Jerry Cullum

Jerry Cullum is Editor at Large at Art Papers, having served as associate editor or senior editor since 1984. He also served as an art critic for the Atlanta Journal and Constitution from 1988 to 2008, and as an occasional contributor to ARTnews for which he is Atlanta correspondent and Art in America and other publications.

Cullum holds a B.A. in Literature from Eckerd College; an M.A. in Religious Studies from the University of California Santa Barbara, and a Ph.D. from the Institute of the Liberal Arts, Emory University. His poems, collected in four books and recorded on four audio CDs, have appeared in Poetry (Chicago), Midwest Quarterly, and other magazines. Cullum has curated exhibitions for the Telfair Museum of Arts, Georgia State University, Georgia Perimeter College, the Marietta-Cobb Museum of Art, and a number of other venues, and co-curated an exhibition of Atlanta artists that toured Germany and England in 1996.

Cullum has taught at Emory University and the Atlanta College of Art, and served as a Visiting Critic at Newcastle on Tyne, U.K., and in Shreveport and Alexandria, Louisiana. He maintains two personal web blogs and writes reviews for burnaway.org and artscriticatl.com.
